John Thomas migrated from the Black Foot Indian Tribe of the hills of South Carolina. We don’t know where or how he and his wife met, but he loved and married Bina MacDonald. To this union was born seven children: Scott (Bud); Dolly; Jules: Sally: Jane; Evans and Addie(Monk)

John and Bina found their way to Bishopville, South Carolina. John Thomas was a full time farmer and worked as a janitor and “Bell Ringer” at the Ebenezer Methodist Church which sits between Bishopville and Hartsville. He and his family lived a Christian life. His children attended the school house on the property of the Ebenezer Methodist Church. The old school house although no longer in use still stands today. The Church has been remodeled with the names of some of our ancestors written on the brick and the bell has been left as a monument on the grounds.

We have no information regarding brothers and sisters of John Thomas but we know his offspring have migrated all over this country. Yet no matter how far apart we live, one weekend out of the year we come together as a family. How proud they would be if they could see the generations of their offspring coming together and preserving the “Thomas Family Tree.”
